Around some eight hundred years ago, the humans established a culture that was capable of traveling to outer space, but as the planet gave way to pollution and demolition, the humans gradually forgot about their pride. In the end, the dark energy brought forth a final act of destruction that went down in history as the "Star Chord Judgment"; man and universe were left at stake.

The humans who escaped the annihilation lost their land, and resorted to dwell on the remains of earth that float around in the air—floating islands—and commute from one isle to another using pontoons. However, planktons raiding the air often block the routes, and underdeveloped floating isles were filled with monsters and events out of the ordinary, and the shortage of energy and resources left the world—or what remained of it—in continual chaos and conflict.

Modern research discovered that all kinds of magical powers could be created by vibrating forces of sound. The act of managing musical notes and rhythm— tuning—could form a consonance with energies of the past, open up an entrance to the dimension of the lost world and obtain its resources, bringing new opportunities and challenges to Neume.

The humans’ abuse of the waves has brought destruction upon themselves. In desperation, the humans gathered up all that was left to escape from annihilation. Using the resonant power of the sine wave, the legendary seven wise men opened the doors to the universe and segregated the untamed energies, the deteriorating land and the corrupt humans into different dimensions.

History books refer to this final act of destruction as “The Star Chord Judgment”.

Most of the humans arrived on a huge floating island that was known as Kortholt, while some humans settled on other smaller islands. The federal government broke down into some hundred nations that often fought each other for food and resources, causing deaths and casualties beyond measure and migrations of refugees from one island to other.

Moreover, many humans have failed to adapt to life in the skies and suffered death; sixty years after the universal destruction, only one third left of the world population was left. Humans enslaved fire beasts to build the cities in the skies and claimed nearby islands by constructing bridges.

During this era, survival was the only objective, and lots of traditional cultures were lost.

To the east is the territory of Kortholt Republic, ruled by humans. Due to long-term conflict and natural disasters, this part of the world has come apart and became many separate islands. The climate here is mild, with many plains and terrains, and there are artificial lakes on some of the floating islands.

In the south are where many tropical islands are located, and are inhabited by the three major human sub-races, and other minority sub-races.While these islands have the same warm and humid climate, and grow a variety of crops, the landforms on these islands are very extreme, ranging from tropical rainforests to big patches of desert.

In the northwest, where the Elves dwell, the land is barren with a glacial climate, but enriched in natural resources.
